Artist Statement
In a world quantified by likes, hearts, and dollar signs, dedication to art making is the ultimate form of contrarianism. Subverting expectations is intrinsic to my character and creating art that is both meaningful and meaningless, functional and functionless is the conduit through which I express my rebellion. Like Duchamp or Basquiat, my work is sometimes offense, obscene. juvenile, or seemingly lacking in concept; my art is self serving, it is a representation of my own thoughts and feelings, and while deep down inside I hope my work finds an audience, I do not rely on others to reify my art and subsequently my own personal beliefs and thoughts. I am here, my art is here, my thoughts are here, take it or leave it, that’s rebellious.
